About the Speaker
Michael Brett is a technology leader and expert in complex systems, currently serving as the Global Lead for Quantum Computing at Amazon Web Services (AWS). In this role, he leads business development for the High Performance Computing group, where he guides customers, researchers, and partners in exploring quantum solutions through Amazon Braket. Throughout his career, Michael has focused on accelerating the adoption of early-stage technologies across the aerospace, defense, and data analytics sectors.
His professional background is rooted in entrepreneurship and systems engineering, notably as the co-founder and CEO of QxBranch, a quantum computing and data analytics firm that was acquired by Rigetti Computing in 2019. Michael began his career as a systems engineer developing mission planning software for the Australian Department of Defense. Since then, his experience has spanned a wide range of technical projects, from predictive risk analysis for hypersonic flight vehicles and spacecraft safety to delivering broadband satellite communications to Antarctica. He even developed an award-winning tracking system for recreational skiers used across North America.
Michael’s contributions to the industry have earned him significant recognition, including being named a Young Space Leader by the International Astronautical Federation and receiving an Australian Leadership Award. He holds an Executive Master of Business in Complex Project Management and a Bachelor of Engineering in Aerospace Avionics.
